The Minister of Youth and Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung is already in Lagos State for an official inspection tour of sports facilities at the Centre of Excellence on Monday, 4 January.
A statement by the SA Media to the Minister, Nneka Ikem Anibeze hinted that “the facilities to be inspected include the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, the National Institute for Sports and the Games Village at Bode Thomas, all in Surulere Lagos”.
The Inspection is expected to commence at 1pm. On the minister’s entourage is the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Mr Christian Ohaa and the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Alhasan Yakmut.
The essence of the inspection is to have a first-hand assessment of the conditions of the facilities. The minister, Barrister Solomon Dalung said there was need to bring back to life, the National Stadium Surulere, which used to be the pride of the nation.
The minister is also expected to visit the Lagos City Marathon office located at the Teslim Balogun Stadium to sign-on for the race.
The special adviser and Chairman Lagos State Sports Commission, Hon Deji Tinubu will receive the Minister at the Lagos City marathon office.
