Eyeonthenews.com has gathered that a 44-year-old businessman, Kingsley Ogbonna raped his 18-year-old employee on Valentine Day.
The businessman was however arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Thursday, 23 February, 2017, under the Magistrate, Mr A.A. Adesanya, on a one count charge of rape.
Ogbonna, who resides at Ilufunmi Street in Ejigbo area of Lagos, pleaded not guilty and was admitted to a bail of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. George Nwosu, the accused committed the offence on February 14 (Valentine Day) at his residence.
He said that the accused, a father of four, unlawfully had sexual intercourse with his 18-year-old sales girl, name withheld, without her consent.
“Ogbonna raped his employee barely after two weeks of employing her,” he said.
Nwosu said that the the accused, who purposely left his wristwatch behind at his store, called the complainant to help him bring it home after closing.
“The accused, who was not living with his family called the complainant to bring his wrist watch to his house.
“The complainant came and handed over the watch to him, when she was on her way out, the accused locked his door, put the key into his pocket and was begging the complainant to allow him make love to her.
“The complainant went on her knees begging the accused to open the door for her, the accused grabbed her and carried her into his bed.
“She was shouting for help but no one heard her voice because it was raining heavily,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the complainant struggled to escape but the accused overpowered her.
“He forcefully removed her skirt, tore her pant and he penetrated into her vaginal and had canal knowledge of her. She was crying and shouting, but the accused ignored her and continue going in and out of her.
“As a result of the rape, the complainant started bleeding heavily from her private part and the accused gave her some rags to clean the blood.
“The accused later unlocked the door for her to leave, the complainant who was still in tears told him that she will go and report to the Police,” he said.
According to the prosecutor, the accused abandoned his apartment and was no where to be found.
“The accused disappeared to unknown destination, when the Police visited his home, rags soaked with blood were seen.
“He was later arrested at Sango in Ogun State after a week of his disappearance,” he said.
Nwosu said that the offence contravened section 258 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Section 258 stipulates life imprisonment for rapists.
The case was adjourned to March 14 for mention.
