There are reports Boko Haram militants have seized the highway linking Maiduguri to Damaturu, capitals of Borno and Yobe states respectively.
A Premium Times report says a police officer told it travelers on plying the highways are turned back. The policeman also said soldiers are headed to the occupied area to engage the insurgents.
The daring act by the sect’s fighters is part of his recent riposte to the government’s effort to stop the insurgency.
Meanwhile, a fresh bomb explosion occurred at a bus terminal on Saturday at 6.30 a.m in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state.
A report says a suicide bomber riding a tricycle attempted to gain entrance to the terminal, but he was resisted. He retreated, and attempted the terminal second gate and was equally resisted.
It was at the point that he detonated his explosives. The suicide bomber was thought to be a stranger, who didn’t know tricyles had been outlawed in the park.
