Newly-promoted Glo Premier League side, Abia Warriors, have secured the services of experienced top flight campaigner and Republic of Benin goalkeeper, Olaniyi Fabiyi.
It was gathered that the Umuahia-based side capitalized on the inability of top flight rivals, FC Taraba, to agree personal terms with the goalkeeper.
“Fabiyi was initially headed for the Umuahia side, but was later lured to FC Taraba. However, he made a U-turn to Warriors due to unfulfilled promises in Jalingo”, supersport.com reported on Wednesday.
“I’m thrilled with the chance to play for Abia Warriors. I want to show what I can do in goal.
“Warriors already have three goalkeepers from the lower division, so I have to put in my best to convince the coaches.
“I’m ready for the challenge”, he said. Fabiyi has represented Gateway FC, Niger Tornadoes, Enyimba and Bayelsa United in the previous seasons.
