Basketball: Warriors ‘Arrest’ Customs In Comeback Game

The Oyo State Basketball team, the Oluyole Warriors on Thursday, returned to winning ways in the Atlantic Conference of the Kwese Nigeria Basketball League as they defeated hard fighting Customs of Lagos 73-67 points.

The highly explosive encounter played at at the Indoor Sports Hall of Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Adamasingba, Ibadan, saw the visiting Customs of Lagos taking the initiatives by winning the first three quarters 12:15, 27:38 and 51:55 points before the Warriors came from behind to finish the fourth quarter 73:67 points.

Speaking after the game, coach of Customs of Lagos and former coach of the Nigerian Basketball team; D’Tigers, said the league is a continuous process. He said teams win some and lose some, and declared that his team are confident of qualifying for the playoffs.

His opposing number, coach Taye Oshibogun of the Warriors, defended their strategy of always coming from behind to win games. He said they study their opponents’ style of play in the first two quarters before wrapping up the game in the final quarter.
