Awoniyi Agrees Kalmar Move


Eaglets striker Taiwo Awoniyi has agreed a pre-contract with Swedish club Kalmar and will sign a pro deal when he is 18.
It was gathered Awoniyi has signed a pre-contract with Kalmar and when he is 18 next year August, he will sign a three-year contract with the club.
“The player is very excited with his chance in Europe and has promised to make the most of it”, a source from France told mtnfootball.
Awoniyi scored four goals as Nigeria went all the way to win the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in Abu Dhabi.
He is currently in the Flying Eagles training camp in Abuja preparatory to a 2015 African Youth Championship qualifier in early May.
He was courted by several clubs in Europe including Anderlecht (Belgium), Sampdoria (Italy) and Benfica (Portugal), but he chose Kalmar, who have agreed to help with his education as well.
He joins a growing list of Eaglets Class of 2013 who have moved to Europe. Others who have moved abroad include Kelechi Iheanacho, Chidiebere Nwakali (Manchester City), Musa Yahaya (Tottenham via Celta Vigo), Isaac Success (Udinese via Granada), Musa Muhammed (Besiktas) and Chidera Eze (FC Porto).
