On a day the Super Eagles of Nigeria booked their place in the final of Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup, residents of Lagos had fun as the first-ever Nike We Run Marathon took place in the city.
The 10Km race which started from Onikan saw the runners go through Marina bridge through Apongbon to Alaka and ended at Teslim Balogun Stadium.
The Marathoners were kept fresh and refreshed by Aquafina table water a product of Seven-Up Bottling Company Plc, which ensured that they kept their energy and momentum throughout the race; from the starting point, through the route to the finish point inside the Teslim Balogun stadium.
Head of Marketing of Seven-Up Bottling Company Plc, Mr. Norden Thurston could not hide his excitement at Aquafina’s participation in the first-ever Nike We Run race in Nigeria, that he announced that the first three winners in the male and female categories will be given Pepsi fridges fully stocked with the company’s products.
“Aquafina is delighted to partner with Nike to inspire Nigerians to have fun and live a healthy lifestyle through active participation in sports,” said Mr. Thurston.
The first male to cross the finish line was Plateau State based Police corporal William Kefas, who will represent Nigeria next year at the International Nike We Run in Johannesburg, South Africa. Aminat Olowora was the first female to finish and she also will be representing Nigeria in Johannesburg next year.
