The Chairman of Enyimba International Football Club of Aba, Felix Anyansi Agwu is excited over the club’s achievement in the just concluded season.

Anyansi, who heaped praises on Abia State Governor Theodore Orji for supporting the People’s Elephant, described Enyimba’s performance in the 2012/2013 season as very electrifying. “Enyimba impressed me this season with their approach to the Federation Cup and Nigeria Premier League, NPL. The players and their coaches did a yeoman’s job and their results speak volume of their professional attitude both on and off the pitch.

“Winning the Federation Cup gives me fulfillment as a person and finishing in the second position after the NPL season is an icing on the cake for the team. And, what gladdens my heart the most is that our fans are extremely happy with the club, they are always there and we promise to give them our best”, Anyansi told eyeonthesports.com at the Aba Township Stadium after their last match of the season against Sharks of Port Harcourt.

Enyimba defeated Sharks 1-0 in Aba but finished second with 62 points behind Kano Pillars that garnered 63 points to clinch the NPL title.

Anyansi, is particularly relishing the prospect of Enyimba’s return to the CAF Champions League, saying the two-time winners of the continental diadem have a reason to celebrate this season.

Enyimba remains Nigeria’s most successful football club of all time with two CAF Champions League trophies and six Nigeria Premier League titles and three Federation Cups in their kitty.

“Enyimba’s qualification for the CAF Champions League is a step in the right direction for the club and we will do everything to ensure that the team make a positive impact in the continental tournament next season”, Anyansi assured.

Meanwhile, the Enyimba boss has applauded Governor Orji for his plan to host the team and Aba Warriors at the Government House on Sunday.

The Abia State government is set to reward Enyimba for winning the Federation Cup for a third time, and will also dole out mouth watering gifts to the Abia Warriors FC, for gaining promotion to the Nigeria Premier League at the end of the 2012/2013 Nigeria National League season.
