After a most successful year for Nigeria football that has naturally
seen him honoured as Africa Sports Personality of the Year and Sports
Administrator of the Year, and presented with Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Merit Award and Special Achievement Award, President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari will be presented with another deserving honour this week.
This time, the National Association for Physical, Health Education,
Recreation, Sport and Dance, NAPHER-SD, will adorn Maigari with the
much-cherished Excellence Award in Leadership, at its 44th Annual
Conference taking place in at the University of Benin between
Wednesday and Saturday this week.
In a letter addressed to the NFF President and signed by both
Professor E. O. Agwubike, Chairman, and Professor Emmanuel Ojeme
(National President, NAPHER-SD), the association wrote: “This award is predicated on the rising profile of Nigeria football in Africa and the global community under your leadership of the Federation. Under your leadership, Nigeria football teams at the senior and age-grade levels, have been reinvented with awesome performances in Africa and around the world”.
It would be recalled that in April this year, the African Students
Union Parliament decorated Maigari with Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Merit Award and presented the NFF as a body with Corporate Merit Award.
In May, at the African Development Magazine Awards in Accra, Ghana,
Maigari was honoured as African Sports Personality of the Year. At the Nigeria Pitch Awards in Calabar on 16 November, the NFF President
was presented with Special Achievement Award and on Tuesday in Lagos,
at the Nigeria Sports Awards, he was honoured as Sports Administrator
of the Year.
