As Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets confront Guinea in a Group A match of the African U-17 Championship on Wednesday, Coach Emmanuel Amuneke has urged his wards to be focused, warning that the result of the encounter could determine the World Cup qualification of both teams.
The Eaglets defeated hosts Niger Republic 2-0 in the opening match of the tournament on Sunday, and Guinea beat Zambia 1-0 in the other group match.
The match between Nigeria and Guinea holds at 15:00 hours, while Zambia and the hosts; Niger tango in the second game at 18:00 hours same day.
Speaking after their opening match, Amuneke said: “The most important thing in football today is to win. It was important for us to win our first game. We took our chances and defended well. “However, we have to see how we can grow from strength to strength, especially in the next match against Guinea. I have told the boys to remain focused as we must work hard to give a good account ourselves in the competition. We have to also qualify for the World Cup”, Amuneke said.
