From former President Olusegun Obasanjo came an advice to Nigerians and her Government that, it was time to take agriculture business seriously as the way out of the present economic crises in the country.

The former president spoke on Saturday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital while delivering the maiden Eminent Persons Business Lecture titled ‘Agric Business: TIME TO ACT IS NOW’, organized by the University of Ibadan School of Business in partnership with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan.

He said that the fall in prices of oil at the world market, which may be a blessing in disguise has contributed to economic hardship and collapse in businesses.

He said to overcome these challenges, all hands must be on deck to practically embrace agriculture and not just on papers.

While highlighting the importance of agriculture in the areas of economic growth, development and wealth creation, the former military President maintained that Agric business has potentials to stimulate industrialization and economic growth.

He also said that there must be consistency in Government’s policy formation and ensure its sustainability.
