Unable to withstand her Pastor husband’s adulterous attitude and constant beating, a 37-year-old trader Kafayat Moses had approached the Customary Court in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State for the dissolution of their marriage of sixteen years.
Eyeonthenews.com was at the Court in Ibadan when the woman narrated her ordeal to the Court, revealing that the marriage has produced four children.
“My Pastor husband is troublesome and not responsible. Trouble started between us when he Introduced a woman to me, claiming she was a Prophetess and that they are partners doing God’s work.
“He used to beat me, and it got to a stage that our children advised me to leave the house for him”.
Kafayat also accused her husband of adultery.
“I later found out that the so-called Prophetess is my husband’s second wife”, Kafayat told the Court.
Continuing, the mother of six said: my husband leaves home at 5am in the morning and comes back in the midnight, I moved out of his house with
my children when the hardship was becoming unbearable for us”.
While asking the Court to dissolve their marraige, the woman urged the Court to mandate his husband to be responsible for the upkeep of their children.
In his reaction, Pastor Moses Odeyemi, 42, who did not deny the allegations said: “I don’t want my
children in her custody, she packed out of the house when I went to the mountain to pray and went away with all my belongings”.
He later urged the Court to grant his wife’s wish by dissolving the union, saying he does not love her again.
Pastor Moses claimed that his wife is jealous and has chased many members of his congregation and that of his family away from him.
The court President Chief Odunade Ademola adjourned the case to 2nd May, 2017, for judgement, and asked both parties to bring along their children that day.
