Adidas Marks One Year In Nigeria With New Stores

Reports just reaching say adidas, the global sports brand, will celebrate its first year in Nigeria in an exciting fashion with the launch of two new stores to improve on its services to millions of sports lovers in the country.
Over a year ago, adidas, the global sports brand, through a Strategic Retail Partnership with Mopheth Sport Nigeria Ltd, opened its first two stores in Nigeria.
The exciting first year saw the two stores run a plethora of campaigns that not only presented the public with authentic adidas products, but also offered great competitions such as a consumer opportunity to win tickets to watch a Chelsea game in the United Kingdom, UK.
“We have had unprecedented response to our brand from the Nigerian consumer. For this reason, together with our partner Mopheth Sport Ltd, we are looking at an aggressive expansion plan in the next year, that will include new stores in Kano”, Astrud Meintjes, the Senior Business Development Manager at adidas South Africa said.
There are currently two adidas stores in Nigeria, one at Ikeja City Mall and the other at the Abuja Grand Towers (Shoprite) Mall in Abuja.
It was gathered that come December, two additional stores will be opened in Lekki Phase 1 and in Kano’s Ado Bayero Mall.
Adekunle Oyegade, adidas retail partner said: “Our celebration not only marks a great year of the adidas brand in Nigeria but the expansion of our footprint through two new stores in Kano and Lekki”.
“Like the existing stores, our new stores will offer the latest in adidas products including footwear, apparel and accessories for men, women and kids in all sports categories, including; football, running (athletics), basketball, training and originals”, he said.
Meanwhile, the official proceedings will take place at the Ikeja City Mall on Saturday, 16 November, 2013, where adidas will offer special guests along with consumers, an exciting day of festivities and promotions on most adidas products.
It was further gathered that the company will provide giants screens for all invited guests and customers to watch live matches of the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers, including the encounter between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Wayla Antelopes during the ceremony at the Ikeja City Mall that day.
