Gambo, 4 Other Players Shot As Robbers Attack Pillars

.Kano Pillars’ Gambo Mohammed groans in pain after robbers attacked the team on their way to Owerri for this weekend’s botched Glo Nigeria Premier League, NPL opening match. –

Reports Thursday afternoon say a contingent of Kano Pillars Football Club were attacked by armed robbers along Abaji-Lokoja road, Niger State, leaving five players seriously injured.
The incident occurred at about 1.15pm Nigerian time as Kano Pillars were on their way to Owerri for their Nigeria Premier League, NPL opening match against Heartland on Saturday.
Media Officer of Pillars, Idris Malikawa disclosed that the gunmen shot sporadically at the team, leaving the players seriously injured.
The five players injured during the attack are Gambo Muhammed, Eneji Otekpa, Adamu Murtala, Reuben Ogbonnaya and Ubong Ekpai.
Malikawa said the injured players are in a Lokoja hospital receiving treatment.
