As our Correspondent has been reporting for the past fews weeks that players of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) have threatened to embark on strike over unpaid salaries, Eyeonthenews.com can reliably report that the strike action officially begins on Tuesday, 13 September, 2016.
It was gathered that the entire team boycotted two training sessions on Tuesday and the players also stayed away from training on Wednesday morning.
In a meeting held by players of the club, it was gathered that the players would boycott the remaining matches of the Nigerian Professional Football League this season if their salaries are not paid.
According to feelers from the camp, the players are unhappy that the management and Oyo State government did not show any concern for their plight, and they had no choice than to down tools to ensure that all their entitlements are paid in full.
The players also complained that they have been placed on half salary since the begining of last season.
All efforts to get reactions of the club’s management proved abortive as top staff of the team refused to pick their calls.
Howeer, when we contacted Mr. Jubril Arowolo, the club’s Media Officer of 3SC, he said the management would hold a meeting on the players’ strike action on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, a meeting meant to resole the criris was hurriedly put together between the Commissioner for Youth and Sports and players of Shooting Stars early Wednesday was shifted till evening of the same day.
It was gathered that the parley will continue on Thursday morning.
