Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) defeated Rangers International of Enugu 2-1 on Match Day 35 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Saturday, 10 September, 2016.
The encounter, played at Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan, Oyo State, saw the NPFL leaders, Rangers stumbled on the road as their title ambition suffered a setback after the loss to 3SC.
The encounter started on a very fast tempo with 3SC’s Nojeem Olukokun missing what could have been the first goal of the match from six-yard in the 7th minute, leaving the whole first half without any serious attempt at goal.
Ibrahim Ajani opened scoring for the homers in the 47th minute off a goal mouth scramble.
The opening goal spurred the Oluyole Warriors on as they kept terrorising Rangers’ defence at will.
However in the 49th minute, Nojeem Olukokun was pushed down in the box resulting in a penalty kick and expulsion for Rangers’ Chibuzor Madu.
The spot kick was neatly converted by Ifeagwu Ojukwu. Centre Referee Mammaga Aminu from Zamfara state also gave Moses James of 3SC the marching order for retaliation in the 67th minute.
The Flying Antelopes however reduced the tally in the 82nd minute through Chisom Egbuchulam’s effort.
