As if members of the media are the problem confronting relegation-threatened Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, some officials of the club are now hostile to the journalists who go about their official duties.
The officials’ hostility got to the climax on Friday, when some journalists who came to Adamasingba Stadium to get news item about how the team was preparing for their next game were embarrassed and hounded out of the complex.
Despite identifying themselves as credible journalists who came to source for materials to write previews for their next game, the aggrieved officials sent their men to lock out the media throughout the training session Friday evening.
Although, Media Officer of the club, Jubril Arowolo was not at the Stadium that evening but the other top management staff including the General manager were around.
It was gathered that the top officials took the decision because they do not want anyone to spy on the team; hence the media is their main target, as Shooting Stars intensify preparations for Match Day 22 of the Nigeria Professional Football league (NPFL) against Sunshine Stars in Ibadan on Sunday.
With just two games into the second round of the 2016/2017 NPFL season, Shooting Stars are deep in relegation waters, sitting in 19th position with just 22 points, having won just five (5) matches from 21, drawn seven (7) and lost nine (9) games so far.
The position of Shooting Stars on the table got worse when the Oluyole Warriors disgracefully lost 3-0 away to Lobi Stars of Makurdi last weekend.
