Shooting Sports Club of Ibadan, on Sunday at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba in Ibadan, defeated hard fighting Enyimba Football of Aba by a lone goal.
The week 31 NPFL game, watched by a capacity stadium lived up to its billing as one of the top fixtures this weekend, and started like a cup final with the home side fighting like wounded lions and dictating the pace.
Shooting got the goal in the 8th minute of play when Adebayo Abayomi’s low drive from edge of the box displaced Fatai Dauda in goal for Enyimba.
The goal brought out the best in both teams, especially Enyimba FC as they started pilling pressure from all angles with Olufemi Oladapo, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu and captain Mfom Udoh the chief tormentors but he was well curtailed by 3SC’s defenceline marshalled by Slvanus Ebiaku, Alaba Osawe and Samuelson keeping the scorelines in favour of the home team till the end of the first half-half.
The second half was all 3SC, as Abu Azeez’s efforts was saved by Fatau Dauda in the 46th minute and again in the 47th minute when Fatau Dauda made two quick saves to deny 3SC a second goal.
However in the 29th minute of the second half the whole stadium was thrown into confusion when 3SC Skipper Sylvanus Ebiaku went down dangerously and was lifeless for about 60 seconds but he was later revived and taken to hospital by the medics.
On resumption of play, 3SC was everywhere again defending en mass until the centre referee signalled for the end of the game.
