Pepsi Football Academy Holds Festival Of Youths

It was a beehive of activities when talented youngsters from the Pepsi Footfall Academy stormed the Agege Multi-purpose Stadium in Lagos, for this year’s Festival of Youths.
The youngsters from all centres of the academy across major cities in Nigeria were excited and full of energy for the competition.
Players for the intra-academy competition for both U-15 and U-17 categories, were drawn from all the Pepsi Academy training centres nationwide, to compete in four zonal format: North, East, West and Lagos.
The first match in the U-15 category saw the youngsters from the East cruising past their counterparts from the North on penalty shootouts, after ending the regulation time 1-1.
The Lagos team had a comfortable win, defeating their counterparts from the West 2-1.
In the U-18 category, Kaduna team humbled Aba team 4-0, while Lagos team beat the Football College team 2-0.
Matches for day two of the festival will see the boys from the North taking on West for the third place, while East will battle Lagos for the final in the U-15 category.
The boys from Aba will exchange tackles with Football College in the third place match, before Kaduna face the Lagos team in the final of the U-18 category.
Speaking on the festival, the Director of Pepsi Football Academy, Dr. Kasimawo Laloko said the idea of the festival is to bring both coaches and players from different centres of the academy together to celebrate the competition as one big family.
“The aim of the Pepsi Festival of Youth is to assess the discipline and skills development level of the players from all the centres, and also offer them opportunity to socialize among themselves”, Dr. Laloko said.
Meanwhile, the grand finale of this year’s Festival of Youth will come to a climax with an award/dinner night slated for Saturday, 30 November, at the Lagos Airport Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
