The Oyo State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), have vowed to ‘attack’ the State’s House of Assembly members on Friday this week.
You wonder why? Well, eyeonthenews.com gathered that Oyo SWAN members, led by the Chairman, Adeniyi Alebiosu are due to engage the Oyo State House of Assembly in a tough battle.
The clash is actually a friendly match put together as part of activities slated for the investiture of the Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adesina Michael Adeyemo as Patron of Oyo SWAN.
“The speaker will be decorated on Friday at the Lekan Salami Stadium, during which a friendly match will be played to honour him,” a statement from Oyo SWAN said.
It was also gathered that the State’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Yomi Oke, Commissioner for Information, Toye Arulogun and all leadership of the House would be in attendance as well as Chief Waidi Ekun and Mr Ade Somefun among many dignitaries.
Speaking on the event, Team Oyo SWAN Head Coach Femi Amusan of AIT disclosed that his team have commenced training for the match and that training continues on Monday.
Amusan however urged all the players to report for training in good time, adding that the team will be in close camping to avoid any form of distraction ahead of the match.
“We are aware that our opponents have a formidable team, not minding the fact that they are politicians but we will not allow any form of distraction in our camp as we expect to field our best legs on Friday”, Amusan said.
Meanwhile, Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Sports, Mr Fatai Adesina Adeniyi has declared that he and his colleagues are not afraid of Team SWAN who has recorded seven victories against the Assembly members in their last eight football matches.
“We are ready and will surely give them a good football match in order to honour our Speaker. Having said that, I must express our appreciation to the executive members of Oyo SWAN for the honour bestowed on the Speaker. I believe this will propel him to do more for sports in Oyo sate”, Adesina Adeniyi said.
