The Nigerian male team have been drawn in Group A of the Netherlands 2015 Homeless World Cup slated for September, eyeonthenews.com reports.
The draw for the 13th Homeless World Cup, completed at the Amsterdam Arena, home of Ajax last weekend, will see the Nigerian ambassadors slugging it out with other Group A teams from Brazil, Romania, Argentina, Wales and cambodia.
Mexico, Namibia, Germany, South Africa, Belgium and South Korea will do battle in Group B, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lithuania, Hungary, Norway, USA and Sweden are in Group C, while Group D features Indonesia, Costa Rica, Italy, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Canada in the male category.
Homeless World Cup President Mel Young pressed the final button to complete the 8 Men’s and 2 Women’s groups for the first stage of the tournament.
The first stage of group play begins on Saturday, 12 September, and participating men’s teams are divided into eight groups (A through H) of six teams per group. The Women’s teams are divided into two groups (A and B) of eight teams per group.
“After playing all the teams in their groups, new groups will be created for the second round of group play based on the final standings in the first stage”, the organisers told eyeonthenews.com.
All teams will have the opportunity to play for one of eight trophies in the final stage. Teams in the top half of the standings in the second stage are playing for a chance to compete for the Homeless World Cup trophy.
