“The victim’s mother left her girl for the wife of the accused when she was going to the market.
“When the accused’s wife wanted to go to church and the girl’s mother was yet to return she left the child for her husband.
“Immediately the accused’s wife left the room, the accused removed the girl’s pant and started fingering her.
“As he was forcing his private part into the girl’s vagina, she cried out loud which alerted the attention of a neighbour who rushed to the scene.
“The neighbour banged the door but the accused refused to open until the girl’s mother came back .
“When the girl’s mother discovered that her daughter had been defiled, she reported the case to the Police and the accused was arrested,” he said.
The offence contravened Section 139 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The Section prescribes life jail term for defilement.
