WBC and WBA welterweight champion, Floyd Mayweather remains unbeaten as he defeated Manny Pacquiao on unanimous points decision in a fight dubbed ‘Bout of the Century early Sunday.
Mayweather, unbeaten in 48 professional fights stretching back to 1996, retains his WBC and WBA welterweight titles and takes the WBO belt from Pacquiao.
The American was caught with the odd good shot, but was quicker throughout and always looked in control.
The Judges scored the historic fight 118-110, 116-112, 116-112.
Mayweather has fought 48 times and won 48 times.
“The reasons for his undefeated record were underlined, hard to hit, fast, strategically on point”, a bbc boxing analyst Steve Bruce said.
“I want to thank God for this victory. I want to thank all the fans that came and those around the world. He’s a hell of a fighter. Now I see why he is one of the guys at the pinnacle of the sport of boxing”, Mayweather said.
“I knew he was going to push me. He had moments in the fight but I kept him on the outside, I was a smart fighter I out-boxed him. We did what we had to do tonight, I’m truly blessed”.
