After declaring Saturday’s Governorship Election in Osun State inconclusive, the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Thursday, 27 September for a re-run election in the state.
After Saturday’s election, the following results were announced by INEC;
ADP polled 49,742 votes, APC’s Oyetola secured 254,345 votes, PDP’s Adeleke got the highest with 254,698 votes while SDP had 128,049 votes.
INEC says the difference in the number of votes secured by the two leading parties; APC and PDP was 353 votes.
“Due to the fact that the difference or margin between the two leading parties is far below the numbers of accredited voters at the areas where elections were cancelled and in conformity with INEC guideline, the election results is hereby declared inclusive”, INEC explained.
“Therefore a new date (27 Septenber, 2018) has been announced for another elections in those concerned areas”.
