Falcons Battle Canada To Shape Up For World Cup

Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set for a stern test of their readiness for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup when they clash with host nation, Canada, on Monday evening.
Ahead of the Grade A friendly, the team took time to have a feel of the turf at the Kia Stadium venue in a two -hour training session on Sunday.
Speaking after the training, Team Captain, Evelyn Nwabuoku, said they are looking forward to the match as it is the first real test since they began their training tour.
“We are looking forward to the match. The game against Canada is a big one because they are not a small team when it comes to women’s football. We have been training hard for this competition and we look forward to testing our preparedness, and hopefully, correct any lapse discovered before the main tournament begins. It will be a good test match for both teams,” she concluded.
This year’s edition will be Canada’s sixth appearance at a FIFA Women’s World Cup and their best performance came in 2003 when they finished fourth, the only occasion they have gone beyond the group stage.
The match will start at 4pm local time, which is 9pm Nigerian time.
