Chelsea faced Bournemouth in Wednesday’s quarterfinal EFL matchup in a very open an shockingly close game.
Both sides had many chances but it was Chelsea who scored the first from a great team goal that was finished off by Willian. Bournemouth had man chances throughout the rest of the match but just couldn’t find the back of the net.
Finally, in the last moments of regulation time, Bournemouth scored their equalizer and looked set to take the match into extra time. However, shortly after the kickoff following the goal, Chelsea were able to break through again and Alvaro Morata scored to send the blues through to the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Bristol City were having a great run in the cup and were hosting Manchester United in a match for the semifinal spot. Even though both teams had a number of chances, they went into the break level with no goals.
But early in the second, the goals came and the first from Bristol’s Joe Bryan was incredible. The fan’s couldn’t believe they were up against Man United but the celebration didn’t last long as Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a great free kick to equalize minutes later.
Both teams kept looking for a winner and eventually the winning goal came. Korey Smith scored in the last seconds of stoppage time to give Bristol the victory.
The semifinal matchups will be played in January and will be Arsenal against Chelsea while Manchester City will battle Bristol.
