The 3rd edition of the Bet9ja Lagos Women Run will hold on November 10, 2018 from 6.30 am and will start off from the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island and finish at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere.
The Lagos Women run race, is a 10km race, taking runners through 15 historical locations in the old colonial Lagos, including Race Course, Tinubu Square, The National Museum, The Old Nigerian Prison Grounds (now Freedom Park), The Carter Bridge, The African Church Cathedral, The National Theatre Iganmu, to mention a few.
Coordinator of the Run, Tayo Popoola, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that one of the objectives of the Lagos Women Run, in addition to bringing to limelight the social and economic issues facing the womenfolk in Lagos and Nigeria, is to also become a major tourist event.
With over 10,000 people registered, she said the turnout would be an improvement over last year’s edition.
While unveiling new plans ahead of the 2018 edition of the race slated to hold on Saturday November 10, 2018, Head of Marketing, Bet9ja, Mr. Tunji Meshioye said: “Bet9ja was proud to be the headline sponsors of the Lagos Women Run2018”.
He said not a lot of brands pay attention to women and women activities these days and that needs to change.
“At Bet9ja we see it as our responsibility to push women’s agenda”, he said.
Nigeria’s leading bookmaker, Bet9ja urged women to take advantage of the opportunity to come out and have fun while keeping fit at the event which is the first and only marathon race for women in Nigeria.
