The Super Falcons camp for the Africa Women Championship (AWC) opened on Sunday night with United States based Osinachi Ohale among early birds as she was joined by 22 home based players.
Head Coach Edwin Okon, his assistants Christopher Danjuma, Justine Madugu, Bala Mohammed have all arrived the Serob Leagacy Hotel camp with Okon insisting that there is no time to waste in preparation for the AWC.
Okon also told the players to get ready for the task ahead as he and his assistants will not entertain any indisciplined player, adding that there will be no room for lazy player.
“You all must know that we need maximum concentration towards preparation for the AWC and as such you have to sit up. You either shape in or shape out”, he sounded a note of warning to the girls,
He drummed it into the ears of the girls that the target at the AWC is the trophy, and as such, any player who does not share in the belief should quietly leave the camp.
The team had their first training session on Monday evening at the FIFA Goal project Pitch at the Package B of the Abuja National Stadium.
Director of competition Mohammed Sanusi welcomed the girls into camp and told them to be serious about training because time is not on heir side to prepare for the AWC.
Meanwhile, Houston Dash player Osinachi Ohale, who arrived in camp Sunday afternoon has expressed happiness in joining her national team mates after being away from the national team for over 3 years.
“I am very happy to have been called up to the national team after being away for a while. I promise to put in my best now because though I was not with the team in 2012, when our country lost the championship two years ago. That was painful, but our target is to reclaim the trophy”, she stated.
