In a bid to immortalize the Sports philanthropist and boxing enthusiast, the family of late Chief Francis Aiyegbeni has put the boxing gym left behind by their dad under the care and management of Oyo State Amateur Boxing Association (OSABA).

The ultra modern boxing gym located within the premises of Walan Hotel Ring-Road in Ibadan, according to the daughter of the late boxing promoter, Edna Aiyegbeni, would be formally handed over to the boxing body during an event scheduled for Thursday 21 July 2016.

The United Kingdom-based Edna Aiyegbeni, who is also a member of (OSABA), expressed the willingness of the family in a brief chat with newsmen in Ibadan to keep the memory of the deceased alive.

She said the best way to keep the love her dad had for the game of boxing alive is not to allow his boxing gym rot away.

The former Nigerian boxer, Aiyegbeni died on 7 May this year at the University College Hospital, in Ibadan.

The owner of D’ Rovans Hotel and Walan Hotel struggled with partial stroke before he gave up in the hospital.
