Adedeji, Gambo May Miss CHAN

There are strong indications that striker Gambo Mohammed and defender Adeyinka Adedeji may not feature in the South Africa 2014 African Nations Championship, CHAN.
Gambo and Adedeji are still sidelined with injuries, and this is a source of worry for Super Eagles Head Coach Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, who is set to name his 23-man squad for the CHAN tourney starting on 11 January in South Africa.
Media Officer of the Eagles, Ben Alaiya said four players have had knocks at the Abuja camp.
“Two of the players suffered serious injuries, while the other two are minor, and the medical crew says the players can bounce back if the technical crew picks them for CHAN, Alaiya said.
Those not on the watch list are Solomon ‘Cafu’ Kwambe, who had a good game against Gokana United on Saturday in Rivers State, and Umar Zango, the Kano Pillars central defender, who did not make the trip to Port Harcourt for the friendly.
“Top striker, Gambo Mohammed, who also did not travel for the game in Port Harcourt and Adeyinka Adedeji, who travelled for the game and was listed to start, only to cop a hamstring injury while warming up for the match are not looking good at all”, Alaiya said early Monday.
It was gathered that the medics have not given up on the two players, who incidentally have similar problems, but their chances are 50-50.
Keshi said: “We have worries medically but we will wait till the last minute to see if the players can pull through”.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are scheduled to confront Nigerian league champions, Kano Pillars at the Mainbowl of the Abuja National Stadium early Monday, 30 December.
The Eagles have played four practice matches against local Nigerian sides, winning three and drawing one against Gokana United at the newly built Stadium.
