The Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports in conjunction with The Acquila Group, owned by Chief Shina Abiola Peller, son of the late magician Professor Moshood Abiola Peller, on Thursday, unveiled the Peller Unity Cup during a media parley with stakeholders in the sports industry in the State.
The event, held at the House of Chiefs Parliament Building Secretariat in Ibadan, witnessed by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Barrister Yomi Oke, Commissioner for Information and Culture Mr Toye Arulogun, Commissioner for Works Mr. Dauda Akeem, Chairman, Acquila Group, Chief Shina Abiola Peller and Secretary, Oyo State Football Association Mr Kehinde Ojelowo.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports commended the efforts of Acquila Group for giving back to the society and also for identifying with the grassroots. He later urged sons and daughters of the state to imbibe the good gesture displayed by Acquila Gruop.
Also speaking at the event, Chairman of Acquila Group, Chief Shina Abiola Peller disclosed that the Unity Cup is aimed at discovering talents, empowering the youths and promoting unity among diverse communities, while fostering development in the hometown axis of the late humanitarian.
The Unity Peller Cup is to celebrate the most successful African Magician of all time, who not only captured the hearts of Africans but that of the whole world.
The event will also play host to great entertainment stars such as Davido, Olamide, CDQ, Lil Kesh, Small Doctor and Gbenga Adeyinka.
The opening ceremony of the football tournament is scheduled for Tuesday, 18 July, 2017 and will run through Thursday, 3 August, 2017 at the Iseyin District Grammar School, Iseyin Oyo State.
