Access Bank Lagos City Marathon: Kenya’s Kiprotich Grabs First Prize Of $50,000

The 2018 Access Bank Lagos City 42km Marathon held in Lagos State, Nigeria on Saturday, 10 February, saw Kenyan-born French citizen Abraham Kiprotich emerging as winner of the male category and he is going away with the sum of $50,000 top prize.

The second and third place winners in the male category also received $40,000 and $30,000 respectively, while the first women’s title went to an Ethiopian and she also smiled home with the sum of $50,000.

The winners of the second and third prizes in the women’s category also received the same amount as men’s.

After crossing the finish line, Kiprotich, who is featuring in the Lagos City Marathon for the first time said: “I’m glad to be in Nigeria, this is my first appearance in the Lagos Marathon and I had a great race. Winning the Lagos Marathon is nice for me and my career”.

The first Nigerian female to cross the finish line will also pocket the sum of N3million and says she is fulfilled winning the Nigerian Women’s title.
