Playing with one man less, Shooting Stars held home team Lobi Stars to a 0-0 draw in a Glo Premier League Match Day 31 fixture decided at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi on Sunday, npfl.ng reports.
Lobi Stars dominated the early proceedings with Obonogwu Anthony twice coming close with headers which were calmly saved by Danladi Isah in goal for Shooting Stars.
Tony Okpotu saw a looping header well saved as well as both teams headed into the half time break level at 0-0.
The home team continued their dominance in the second half but yet again found Danladi Isah in goal for Shooting Stars hard to beat.
Shooting Stars were reduced to ten men in the 55th minute when Babatunde Bright was sent off for a wild lunge on Samson Gbadebo.
As expected the numerical advantage saw Lobi Stars pile more pressure on the visitors but the central defence duo of Alimi Jamiu and Gege Oluwafemi dealt with everything thrown at them.
Okpotu twice came close with long range efforts but Isah who was once on the books of Lobi Stars was up to keep out both efforts by tipping them over the bar.
However while Lobi Stars dominated the game the fans at the Aper Aku stadium were forced to cheer the away team as their passing game left them entertained.
Four minutes of time added on was played after the 90 minutes but Shooting Stars held on for a 0-0 draw despite being a man short to compound Lobi Stars’ chances of beating the drop.
