For allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl, two men; Saheed Bello and Seun Badru were brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The accused; Bello, 25, an apprentice, a resident of Ewenla Close, Agege, Lagos and Badru, 23, a tailor, who resides at Ishola Street, Ogba, Lagos, are being tried for conspiracy and defilement.
According to the prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, the accused committed the offences on December 1 at Agege, Lagos.
He said that the accused conspired to defile a 13-year-old girl.
“The accused had canal knowledge of the victim,” he said.
Ogu said that the girl was defiled in a public toilet.
“The victim was pressed on her way from school and she decided to use the toilet.
“The accused who sighted her entered the toilet, followed her. They threatened to kill her if she refused to comply and for fear of the unknown, the girl obeyed and the accused have sexual intercourse with her in turn.
“After they came out of the toilet, the girl raised an alarm and the accused were arrested,” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 137 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
Section 137 prescribes life jail term for defilement.
The accused pleaded innocence of the offences and were granted bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two each sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate, Mr T. Akanni said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and show evidences of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned to Deember 18 for mention.
